Base-8 and Base-16 fiber optic cables
Proterial Cable America (PCA) has launched NanoCore® Interconnect Micro Distribution cables. The Base-8 and Base-16 fiber optic cables are suitable for use in hyperscale data centers owing to their ability to efficiently carry large amounts of data at high speeds.
Base-8 and Base-16 cables are top-of-the-line options for our customers,
said Joe Barry, chief operating officer of PCA-New Hampshire. This product is a great fit for hyperscale data centers, meaning our customers can expect more information and speed while using less space.
Specially designed to transmit data at high speeds, Base-8 and Base-16 cables are smaller than the Base-12 alternatives, allowing more cables to fit in the same space. The smaller size also means they are less expensive to manufacture and take up less space in a data center.
The NanoCore Interconnect Micro Distribution cable offers 250um fiber in a loose tube design, which allows more fibers to fit into a smaller diameter cable. In each cable, 100 percent of the fibers are used for parallel optics applications in support of 40GbE, 100GbE, 400GbE, 800GbE, and 1.6TbE.
